I have to inform you that we have been requested by the Secretary of State for the Colonies to recommend suitable candidates for appointment as Chief Assistant Architect and as Assistant Architect for service in the Public Works Department of the Straits Settlements, upon the terms and conditions shown in the enclosed two memoranda of particulars, and we should be obliged if you could assist us in the matter by nominating suitably qualified candidates for the two vacancies.
2. The sterling value of the dollar is, at present, fixed by the Government at two shillings and four pence.
